As the 2013 college football season approaches, I feel that it is time that I shared my insight and thoughts on the sport as a whole, as well as the smaller details that make this the greatest and most suspenseful form of entertainment in the world. I can't think of a better time than to start now and begin to speculate on how the final season of the BCS will play out. We've seen some extreme controversy and also very clear cut results on who the best program is annually. Ironically, it seems that we have had several stable years in a row of late, so the advent of a playoff in the season that will follow this one is a welcome one, though I think some of us may have forgotten, or at least have a slightly fuzzier memory of just what a mess the BCS was back in, say, 2004. Gone are the days of arguing over the 3 or so teams that should be considered for only 2 slots. It's all about one program's dominance at this point and the question of just how good the Alabama football team will be in 2013. Will there be a three-peat, or will another program step up and snag the final BCS title? Only time will tell, and I've got a little over a month to do as much prognosticating as possible. I'll do the best I can to say something about all 125 teams before the season and as the weeks progress, as well as at least a few words about every game once the season starts.
Another thing I am going to make sure of is to check the prominent message boards for every team and follow what fans are saying about them. I highly recommend doing this yourself as you can peek into the psyche of each fanbase (I assure you, the football mentality of Ohio State and Kansas fans is extremely different in terms of expectations and general enthusiasm about the sport). Fascinating to read.
College football to me is more than just a passion, it's in my thoughts nearly every waking moment in some form and I feel that sharing my thoughts on the game will help make it that much more enjoyable. Here's to a thrilling 2013 season!
